Strawberry Festival

Grammy and Gramps came to visit recently.  Their first weekend they were here, Jeremy was sick, so we didn't do very much. Gramps came to our CC group with us that Monday and played his Trumpet for the kids, since we are learning all about the orchestra.  The kids loved it, and I think Gramps like the applause he received after every note:)

Then, they went to Pt. Charlotte and Naples for the week, and this is what happened to two of the three kids

Nate's Get Well card I made him.  He carried it around for a few days.  Made my heart happy:)
Yep....Nate and Nicole were sick.  Really sick!  Nicole's fever was pushing 105 for a while and never dropped below 102 until it finally broke 5 days later.  She has always ran high fevers.  It can be a little stressful, but I know what her 'normal' is.  Nathan's fever didn't go above 104, but he stayed right between 102 and 103 for those 5 days as well.  So....we took our "Spring Break".  No work, lots of laying around and watching movies, because that was literally all they could do.
Pretty sure I've got the sweetest husband int he world.  He brought me these flowers after a week of caring for our little sickies.

However, their fevers broke, just in time for Grammy and Gramps to return!  So, we took off for the Strawberry Festival in Plant City.  This has become a Florida tradition, and it was our first time.  Everything is strawberry.  Even Pepsi and Mountain Dew made strawberry sodas:)  We had fun being silly taking picture.  Went on a Ferris Wheel ride (sheesh...we could only afford one ride- next time go on arm band day!), ate fair food and strawberry shortcake.

The best part of the Strawberry Festival was running into our friend Emily from church.  She is the agriculture teacher at a local middle school and she invited us to come see what she does with her kids.  We got a 'behind the scenes' tour of their turkin (chicken/turkey mix) and our own private visit to their strawberry field.  The kids ate SO many strawberries.  They were delicious.  Jeremy even asked if they sprinkled sugar on the strawberries before we got there.  Yummy!

Nate is the biggest strawberry of them all.  He was hoarding them and always had two in each hand:)
