Painting with Pastels

Two years ago at a homeschool convention, I purchased a DVD lesson on painting with Pastels.  I had no idea what that meant...but I thought it looked interesting.  Fast forward 26 months, and I finally opened the DVD case and put the disc in the player.

Today, the kids and I invited Yaya over to try our hands at painting a "Peaceful Lake" with pastels.

First, we made cardboard easels this weekend.  Apparently, they worked really well.

We followed the DVD, step by step.

Hannah is signing adding the finishing touches to her picture.
I love that we all had access to the same pastels and we all followed the same instructions, yet our projects looks very different.

I told him to grab a book, we would lay on the couch and read together.  2 minutes later...this is what I saw!

Memorial Day- we went to the military museum, met some veterans, and paid our respects.

Oh- this was a fun surprise.
 It's Carly!!!!!

Jeremy and I went to a Cubs vs. Marlins game together.

Hannah turns SEVEN!

Time is flying by faster than I care to admit!  Hannah turned seven back in April.  She was excited to spend the days before her birthday with her family in Tennessee.  We decided it would be fun to invite friends to the beach  on her actual birthday.  After a little mix up because of bad weather....we decided to brave the beach and hope for the best.

And we got the Best!  It was overcast and not hot, and big, fun waves for the kids to play in.  We had some sweet friends come down to celebrate with us as well.  It was great fun!

Yaya is under there somewhere!

Wait...there she is!  Nope....she's back under water! hehehe

Hannah requested Chilis for her birthday dinner...I guess because she wanted to sit and play video games the whole time?!?

We gave her the gifts after dinner.

Can anyone guess what this excited face is for?

Norwex!  She was psyched to get her own Norwex cloths.
She even took them on a quick trip out of town to use in the hotel room.  Silly goose!

My kids like to make their own birthday cake.

She wanted it to have a cross on it

Happy Birthday my sweet girl!  We love you!!!
