This picture is funny. Peyton was looking at the map and spent several minutes trying to decide where we were, and how to get to the "big bird" Amazingly, he did it! The kids were so cute watching Peyton and looking at the map. It was adorable.

Also, there was a fun toy on the playground I want to try to explain. There is a small bar that children hang on to, and then the bar glides across a straight track. OK, it looks dumb, but the kids had fun on it. Jeremy and Bryan pushed the kids back and forth on the track, and prepared to stop them at the end. Even Hannah got on. Here is a video with Nicole and Hannah (twice) hanging from this toy.

You have got SUPER BABY on your hands!! That is SOOO cool that she hung on! Amazing!
I was always frustrated when we took our students to that zoo and all they wanted to do was play on the playgrounds. Arrghh!
Anyway, a good home school idea, which we did in first grade...the zoo has a website with their map on it. You can click the different areas and see a picture of the animal there and read info about each animal. You can also print off the map, plan your next trip there, and then the kids are better able to read the map and figure out where to go. We just put numbers over each area (1st, 2nd, 3rd...) and drew arrows on the paths of where we were planning to go.
It's pretty difficult for first grade kids to understand maps, but knowing your kids, Nicole will be able to do it, and maybe Hannah will, too! Haha. :)
That is great!!!! : ) Hahaha!
